What's Up With That?

Hey people! Call off the search, or in some case, the parties, I'm still alive! My sleep deprived fingers have found time to latch onto a word or three.

Now back to where I left off, which would be October/Novemberish? I phrase that as a question as I've forgotten myself. Haven't posted here in a good while, call it a sudden lack of interest, or perhaps boredom. Either way, for most of the time I just couldn't be bothered to post any new stuff. Don't take this as abandonment, oh no my friends, more of a notice for my future lack of activity. I still find the time to do a lot of browsing but these days I don't have the time or energy to comment, and I'm sure you don't want to only hear "Well that's something!" from me every month or so. I've gone into the stage of just browsing to appreciate good art and good images. I still fav things quite a lot, but for those people who believe "comment before you fav" can quite frankly shove that phrase up their ass. We don't have any fucking time to comment! You will be content with your favs you comment grabbing mice! Don't put this down to a fit of laziness combined with arrogance, I'm still here, but you just won't hear from me, unless I can be bothered to become a part of this "community" once again. Think of me as if I was always looking over your shoulder, giving a long look at an image and giving a silent nod in appreciation. And of course as you can't see me nodding, then it's hard to see if I'm doing it at all, which leads me back to the whole inactivity part.
I will be posting a whole load of new work sometime soon. Is that a gasp and a muffled cheer I hear? It better had been! When I say a load, I mean lots, like 10+ pieces, maybe once a week.

Anyway, moving on, did everyone enjoy their Christmas? What about the New Year? Both times which I meant to pop on and write a quick merry whatever to everyone then get back to whatever, but that went out the window pretty quick. Consider it a miracle if this journal actually makes it.
It was a pretty decent xmas all in all. No real down parts and I earnt a lovely £200+ from photography the fortnight before, which I then spent on some new walking boots and soon to order a new external flash unit. I'll get onto where this money came from in a bit, but now onto new years! To be fair, it wasn't a good one at all, sadly our most cherished dog pashed away around lunch time which put a damper on the whole day, but otherwise it was ok, nothing to rave about.

Now onto the money, most of it came from the farmer's weekly magazine. 2 published images around the November period then getting the cover of the first December issue. It was great to get my first cover image complete with name and £100. I may or may not post an image below of the actual cover, I don't know if I can be bothered to host it anywhere.

Site Redesign

Onto the project that has been taking up a lot of my time, well up until a week or so ago when I've just stopped working on it, this would be a site redesign. I felt as if my current website was too bland, too simple and left completely no room to update with new or fresh images for that matter. The new site was designed specifically so that it can be updated with ease. It also will include a news section to keep visitors posted along with small descriptions on photographs. Below is just a sneak peek at what it will look like. I haven't quite finished it yet; I got a little fed up whilst building the individual photo pages and nearly threw in the towel. I'll be working on it again soon.

The Final Thought

Now coming to an end of this mighty long journal entry. You may see me more frequently from now on, you may not, just don't keep your hopes up even though I know pretty much no one is. I'm still here as you may notice my status is set to "online" all the time, just not posting or commenting. I see little point in putting a lot of effort in being a part of this site; it's changed a lot over the last year or so, and not really for the better.

On an end note, I still want to hear from you lot, so be sure to tell me about your holidays etc and what you've been up to, be good to hear something fresh.

Ta ta folks, until next time

An Update of the Me Variety

Hello

Firstly my apologies that the weekly feature hasn't taken place for almost a month. I've been busy with other activities and I'm afraid dA comes second to most things. But hopefully I will find some time to carry on with it in the future.

Onto some personal stuff. We've now entered one of my favourite months, autumn or fall to some of you. Nice cool air and yellow sunshine, well at the start at least. This weekend has left a lot to be desired.
Anyway, I've been taking a lot more photos recently with the Elan Valley trip and such, it's really got me back into photography and I'm doing it more for myself this time.

Its also nearly Halloween, I don't think anyone could forget with all the junk on sale across the country. Not long until Christmas, Jesus this year has gone fast!
I've spent a little while today updating my old pumpkin avatar for use this year, it needed a bit of a revamp. Check it out below and see if you can notice anything different.

Well that's mostly all from me, nothing really to report. My life is just the same old routine and I really can't be bothered to write it down. Apart from I'm finally getting new glasses, 'bout time, these are nearly falling to bits.

Feature Time – A bit late

Its feature time again! This week's features were requested a while back and I'm sure a few have forgotten but here they are anyway.
As last time, the rules are the same. First 5 people to request the feature will get it, and be sure to ask, just commenting on the journal wont get you it. Also it will now become just 3 plain thumbs, and no large image. Sorting out the coding and tags for that large image is what really drags me down when coming to doing this.

Feature Time

So its been a week already since the last feature which means its time for another!

Hope you all enjoy the selection ive shown and be sure to go have a look at all their galleries as well, as it took me ages to decide on only 3 from all of them. But it was fun none the less!

So you know the drill, but just in case you don't, here's just a recap:

1. The first 5 people to ASK for the feature will be featured. (if you don't ask, you don't get. I got confused last time)
2. If you have already been featured, then you cant be featured again.
3. You have to ask in the current journal.
4. If you didn't make it the first time but still asked, you have to ask again and just hope.

And thats it really. The first five will have 3 pieces chosen by me, 1 large image and 2 thumbnails. In return I will collect your souls. Only kidding...

Now get asking!

Feature Time

So as promissed in my last journal, i have featured the first 5 people who replied asking to be featured. Those spaces dissapeared pretty damn quick, so starting next week i will start featuring in the same way as i did with this feature. That is the first 5 to answer to the journal asking for the feature will have 3 of their pieces, chosen by me displayed, 2 regular thumbnails and one large image.
Journals for these entries will be placed up once a week probably on random days as i will likely forget which day i originally posted it on. Oh and if you have already been featured, you can not be featured again, just wouldnt be fair y'know.

I know a feature from someone with roughly 13,000 pv and over 500 watchers isnt that great but i feel like im wasting my sub abilities with updating a journal every 2 months or so. So i thought i may as well do this to display some of the awesome art works out there.

watch this space.

Oh, and if you want to be featured for next time, please apply in THIS journal, almost forgot to put that in! So the first 5 in this journal will be featured a week from now.

A General Update of ME

Hello everyone, long time no write. Over 2 months now.

Well onto the actually journal entry. Firstly for those who don't know, my camera was returned to me about a month ago after its repairs and now works fine. I've been on a few shooting trips which I'll get to later on. It only took 2 months of waiting for it to actually arrive including occasions in which an employee of the insurance company would give out completely wrong information, resulting in a very pissed off me.

Anyway onto the shooting trips, I've been on a good amount of walks trying to get some new material but sadly most have proved to be a waste of time. What can I say; I guess I'm not as much into photography as I once was, what with the same locations and the same miserable weather.
I've recently done a few shots for Kington golf club that are being made into a charity calendar for the acorns children's hospice. 4 of my shots were used along with a couple from another local photographer and numerous businesses purchasing pages for advertisement. The calendar is currently being printed and will be available in about a week; it will be nice to see some of my works going to good use.

My other goings on have included sorting out my bloody pc so that it now finally works with XP and all my old hardware, woot!
Also I went to see the John Butler Trio In Liverpool on Wednesday, it was epic! A brilliant performance from them, much better than I could have ever of expected, so my hat goes off to them for putting up such a great show. It was also really nice to see a few of my friends, even if we had to sleep on the most uncomfortable cushions of all time. Damn you Wyn!

dA Activities

Moving on, my activities here on deviantart have now reduced to occasionally faving a piece and occasionally visiting the forums. Unfortunately with my dial up connection it's very hard to sort through all the deviations that soon mount up from my watch list. But I promise I will get back on track and sort through them one by one and comment when I can. Also the rate of my submissions is likely to stay the same, meaning possibly one every month or so, which I guess may annoy some of my watchers who expect a new piece every week or something, but that's something I just cant do. But hopefully as we are nearing autumn we will be blessed with some brilliant colour and interesting weather, which is much preferred than the boring white lighting of summer. Me and Jamesk8 will have to go on more trips, such as the élan valley, and to find the largest waterfall in the UK as apparently its not that far away. Also this year I hope to get and organise a holiday with my family to the lake district, a place I've looked forward to visiting again since I first went there back when I was in high school, but haven't had the time to do since.

Stop! Feature Time

Ah feature time. I haven't done a feature in a long time and I really should be making the most of my sub which still has a good number of months left on it.
For this one i will feature the first 5 artists that request to be featured through this journal. I will then pick my favourite 3 pieces from their gallery, 2 small thumbnails and one large one. I'm open to all art forms not just photography, so anyone who wishes to be featured until the next time I update the journal (normally a month or so) then feel free to request it, and I look forward to choosing my favourites. I will put the features up in an update of this journal once I have chosen them.

Well that's all for now folks, see you soon and I hope you're all keeping well.
